Coming back into my neighborhood after biking I noticed a lot of turkey vultures down close to the housetops and on the fences. Usually they are circling high in the sky. I guess they are wanting to help with the clean-up at the end of this year too, just as I am.
These birds symbolize death & rebirth, and despite popular notions, they are very clean, and act as ‘filters’ for the carrion they consume.
I live in South Florida and the beginning of winter is heralded by the return of these birds circling up high in the sky. I’ve learned a lot about them from Ted Andrews’ book, “Animal Speak”.
They are a very powerful messenger. Carrying lots of messages about inner and outer cleanliness.
And right what came through loud and clear is that those of us who ‘signed up’ are also cleaning and clearing at even deeper levels for all of humanity, especially for those who as I say, ‘don’t have the stomach’ to do this work of transformation/transmutation. This has been a strong theme in my own spiritual journey.
