I had an email exchange the other day with a client who was really struggling about something she’s no longer able to indulge in physically, and which she absolutely has loved throughout her life, from the time she was a little girl. She was deep in the kinesthetic memory of how fabulous and JOYful it felt to do that thing she loved to do so much, and could no longer do. Who hasn’t felt that kind of loss? What she was doing right then was breathing deep and looking to dig deeper for the self-love and acceptance to handle the situation.
Here’s what I wrote to her:
“Honestly, reading your first couple of sentences, I think you already do that. I can feel the reality of it in the way you express it. Maybe you also did it in a past life, maybe you’ve just imagined it so vividly because your desire for it has been so incredibly strong. The fact of the matter is that the mind and the body can’t tell the difference between actually doing it, and imagining doing it. So, if I were in your shoes, I would spend a LOT of time every day imagining and envisioning it JOYfully.
Set aside the lack of actually doing it physically, and let yourself enjoy the hell out of doing it virtually. Have FUN with it!! This allows you to live for that period of time in the quantum world, where the physicists and the spiritual teachers tell us there is a “you” who is most definitely experiencing this directly…and enjoying the hell out of it. So give yourself the gift of being that quantum “you” for as long as you like each and every day as you desire to.
There’s a young woman diver who several years ago, broke her foot and could not train for the Summer Olympics she had awaited for years. All of her training consequently was through visualization and guided imagery. That girl took a freakin’ silver medal! ! If you know what I mean!”
Loss is loss, no matter what area of your life it occurs in, and grief is difficult enough without feeling that we are steeped in it every minute of every day. Visualization and inner imaging have the ability to not only give us a welcome break from feeling down and sad, and even angry in our grief, they also give us a bit of a mental vacation. Doing this consciously raises our vibration and that is an ”across the board” experience.
It is healthy, not only for our heart and our mind to do this kind of shifting focus; it’s also very healthy for our bodies, since whatever we are thinking and feeling bathes every cell of our body in the biochemistry of those thoughts and those feelings. So indulge in a memory or create a new one in your mind’s eye.
This client is going to get through this just fine because she understands that letting go of what is lost opens the door for her to find something that was lost a long time ago: a part of herself that desperately wants and needs to be loved and accepted. Self-love is one thing that we can truthfully call a ‘cure all’.
I’d love to hear from you how you have used imagination and inner experiences to help yourself heal from loss, disappointment, sadness, etc.
As always, I hope you **::**SPARKLE**::**
Love you, Bless you,
